Ignite Presentation (Google Docs)

I created an Ignite Presentation that explains what Learning Express Library has to offer and how to assess the site. I used the Snipping Tool to create graphics from www.wvinfodepot.org and Learning Express Library. I tried to use as few words as possible, but many of the graphics contain words used on the website sites. Click HERE to view my Ignite Presentation that I uploaded to Google Docs.

Power Point Presentation

I created a Power Point presentation that I can use with my students who are preparing for job interviews. I usually use a very long presentation, but this presentation has few words and lots of graphics. The presentation can be view through Google Docs. To view the presentation click HERE.

Wordle

I created a Wordle using my blog. I have used this in my class before. Sometimes we have our students write a self-reflection about themselves. They have to write what they like about themselves and what they want to improve. We have them to copy what the wrote and create a Wordle. It is a great way for them to see how they see themselves in an artistic view.

Jing 2

Jing is such a cool program. I think I have found a new toy and asset for my classroom. I created a Jing file that helps explain how to begin and complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA is very important to anyone who needs financial for college. This is an essential website in my classroom. I added in voice directions. I am not too thrilled about hearing my voice on the internet, but this going to be a great tool when I am creating how-to's for my students. Click here for directions to begin and complete your FAFSA.

Jing 1

I used Jing to create an image of a description of correctional officer job on the
West Virginia Civil Service job site. Many of my students find this website difficult to navigate and sometimes hard to understand. I find myself spending valuable time walking individual students through this application process. I am creating a powerpoint to help my students learn to navigate the site without one-on-one assistance. Jing is going to make this easy to do. The image of the correctional officer will be easy to incorporate into my powerpoint and in emails.

Self-Portrait

I really enjoyed this activity. It gave me a chance to use my creativity and almost be silly for once. Picasso may have been a serious fellow and his arts seems serious, but I find it amusing. I really didn't have any issues with this activity. I utilized the tools on website to create two images of myself. I found it difficult to create it in the Picasso light. I wanted it to look pretty and found myself being very realistic. I actually created two self-portraits. One is in Picasso style and the other is a more realistic.

Print Screen

I didn't see the first blog assignment in the print screen assignment. I used the print screen function to copy the Workforce WV homepage. I used this site often. In the first post I created, I cut an important portion of the homepage out so that I can emphasis this when showing my students to use the page.

Draw Something

I used the Paint program on my computer for this assignment. I created a picture frame that incorporated icons from the main websites we are using in class (blackboard, the homepages, facebook, blogger, Gmail, Delicious, and Google Doc). I used the draw tools on paint to create the frame. I used copy/paste and the snipping tool to incorporate the icons into my creation. I saved the creation as picture. It is a JPEG file that is 29.9 KB in size.

Area Line Bar Pie Scatter Plots Charts

I created two bar graphs on Kid's Zone that compared the average reading assessments for West Virginia fourth and eighth graders to the average for the nation. I used the data presented by the National Center for Education Statistics . I incorporated the two graphs into documents. One document and graph emphasized that West Virginia's fourth graders reading assessment averages are below national average and that more funded is needed. The second document incorporated the data in positive light that emphasized that West Virginia's eighth grade reading assessment averages are not far below the national averages.

Linn and Venn Diagram (Crappy Graphs)

I created a line graph that graph the expenditures per pupil for WV, PA, FL, and TX using the Crappy Graph website. I obtained the data the National Center for Educational Statistics. The data was for the 2007 fiscal year.

My graph on Crappy Graphs can also be seen here.
